September Planting List

Fall/Winter Cool Season Vegetables are arriving in the Nursery. Check out our seed racks too.

It is time to plant: Asian Greens, Arugula, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Fava Beans, Head Lettuce, Leaf Lettuce, Mesclun, Mustard Greens, Onion, Parsley, Peas, Potatoes, Radish, Spinach, Swiss Chard, and Turnips.

Continue to plant: Perennial Herbs such as: Oregano, Marjoram, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, and Chives. Biennial Herbs like Parsley may be planted now as well.

Cool season Tomatoes are in. These are “early” (quick maturing) varieties developed and tested for cold climates. They are able to grow, develop, tolerate, and set fruit in the cooling temperatures and shorter days of fall. Notice some of their interesting names: Siberia, Moscow, and Glasnost.

Fall is a great growing season in Southern California. Enjoy your Autumn gardening.
