Klambothrips myopori
This new pest has rapidly spread up the coast from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
It feeds on the foliage of Myoporum species. It causes ugly distortion of the leaves and leaf galls. Heavy infestations may retard growth, lead to defoliation and death.
Biological controls are being researched. Our best advice is to treat with systemic Imidacloprid (Merit) contained in such products as Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub.
